In 2012, the Angus Foundation will make available general scholarships to
students pursuing an undergraduate degree in higher education.
Eligible Angus youth meeting the qualifications for the Angus Foundation's 2012 Undergraduate
Scholarship Program will be considered by the Angus Foundation's Scholarship
Selection Committee. These general scholarships for Angus youth are made
possible only by the generous financial support from Angus breeders, allied
industry interests and friends of the Angus breed through the Angus Foundation
Heifer Package, outright cash gifts and other fund raising activities.
Two $5,000 scholarships will be given in memory of former American Angus
Association executive vice president Richard "Dick" Spader. In addition, a
number of $3,000 scholarships and $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.
Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the 2012 National Junior Angus Show
(NJAS) in July at Louisville, Ky.
As determined by the Angus Foundation, applicants may also be eligible for other
Angus related named scholarships, permanently endowed and managed by the Angus
Foundation. Past recipients of Angus Foundation general undergraduate
scholarships can continue to apply for named scholarships unless specified
otherwise by the Angus Foundation.
Angus Foundation reserves the right to also award scholarship(s) to eligible applicants based
on financial need, personal and/or family hardship, physical handicap, medical disability, other
extenuating circumstances or combination thereof when determined such sufficiently exists to warrant
special consideration by the Angus Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee for this purpose.
NOTE: The following scholarships use the Angus Foundation General Scholarship Application, with the exclusion of the American Angus Auxiliary Scholarship,
the Certified Angus Beef®/NJAA Scholarship, the Louis M. "Mick" Colvin Scholarship, the Richard Dyar Scholarship, the Missouri Junior Angus Association Scholarship,
the North Dakota Angus Association Scholarship and the Oklahoma Junior Angus Association Scholarship. Each of these scholarships uses either a separate application or

Angus/Talon Youth Educational Learning Program Endowment Fund
In addition to naming the Angus Foundation as a charitable beneficiary in her estate plans, Camron “Cam” Cooper, owner
of the Talon Ranch of Twin Bridges, Mont.,
has provided outright cash gifts for numerous undergraduate scholarships to Angus youth through the creation of the
Angus/Talon Youth Educational Learning Program Endowment Fund. This fund will also eventually support educational
internships for Angus youth at host Angus breeders farms across the United States. The Angus Foundation Undergraduate
Scholarship Program application will be used to select the Angus/Talon Youth Educational Learning Program Endowment
Fund scholarship recipients. Applicants majoring in Animal Science and Range Management with an emphasis on beef
cattle production will be given preference. Pre-veterinary medicine applicants indicating plans to become large-animal,
specifically bovine, practitioners will also be given strong preference. Academic performance is required for an applicant
to be considered for the Angus/Talon Undergraduate Scholarship initially and to continue receiving the scholarship
in subsequent years. Recipients may also receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state,
regional and national Angus related entities.
Arkansas Angus Auxiliary Scholarship Endowment Fund
The Arkansas Angus Auxiliary’s ambition to create more scholarship opportunities for Angus youth from Arkansas
led to its donation of $10,000 to the Angus Foundation to establish the Arkansas Angus Auxiliary Scholarship
Endowment Fund. To be considered for this $500 scholarship, applicants must be entering their sophomore,
junior or senior year in college and be a current or past member of the Arkansas Junior Angus Association.
Angus youth from Arkansas wishing to apply for this scholarship will need to complete the Angus
Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program application. The Angus Foundation Undergraduate
Scholarship Program application will be used to select the Arkansas Angus Auxiliary Scholarship Endowment
Fund scholarship recipients. Selection of scholarship winners will
be made by the Angus Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee.Recipients may also receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state, regional and national Angus-related entities. Recipients of this award may receive the scholarship up to three times by reapplying each year and being selected by the Angus Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee. One scholarship will be awarded each year.
Jean Ann (Neumeyer) Bojorquez Memorial Angus Scholarship Endowment Fund
The legacy of Jean Ann (Neumeyer) Bojorquez, 1962-1996, will be carried on in
perpetuity in the Angus breed through the Jean Ann (Neumeyer) Bojorquez Memorial
Angus Scholarship Endowment Fund. In October, 2007, Jean Ann's parents Bob and
Hollyce Neumeyer of Jaynbee Ranch at Bonners Ferry, Idaho established this
endowment with a $10,000 gift in memory of their beloved daughter. Jean Ann was
very active in the Angus breed, showing Angus cattle and competing in junior
activities at local, state, regional and national levels. As a young adult, Jean
Ann continued her involvement in the Angus breed, owning cows with her parents
at the ranch. Scholarship will be targeted to Angus youth from Idaho, Washington
and Oregon, followed by California, Montana, Nevada and Utah. A different
recipient will receive the scholarship each year. The Angus Foundation
Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to select the Jean
Ann (Neumeyer) Bojorquez Memorial Scholarship recipient. Recipients may also
receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state, regional
and national Angus related entities.
James E. Horton, Jr. Angus Scholarship Endowment Fund
Gregg and Lile Blythe established the James E. Horton, Jr. Angus Scholarship
Endowment Fund to honor Gregg's long time friend, mentor and Angus partner,
James Edwin Horton. The Fund was started with a gift of $20,000 in 2006. A
leader in the Angus breed for many years, Mr. Horton served as a director and
President of the American Angus Association during the 1970's. He was
instrumental in the acquisition of the Angus Journal, establishing Certified
Angus Beef and led the efforts for the eventual creation of the Angus
Foundation. First preference will be given to Angus youth from Alabama to
receive this scholarship. A different recipient will receive the scholarship
each year. The Angus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program application
will be used to select the James E. Horton, Jr. Angus Scholarship recipient.
Recipients may also receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or
local, state, regional, and national Angus related entities.
Iowa Junior Angus Association Scholarship Endowment Fund
With a significant gift of $25,000 to the Angus Foundation from proceeds left over from hosting the 2008 National Junior Angus Show,
the Iowa Junior Angus Association has established Iowa Junior Angus Association Scholarship Endowment Fund in 2009. Through the establishment
of a permanent endowment, the Iowa juniors have designated the funds to be used for scholarships through the Angus Foundation’s Scholarship Program.
Earnings from the fund will support one scholarship to be received by Iowa Junior Angus Association members, and one scholarship designated for members
of the National Junior Angus Association from other states. The Angus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to select
the Iowa Junior Angus Association Scholarship recipient. Recipients may also receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state,
regional, and national Angus related entities.
Kansas Angus Association Scholarship Endowment Fund
In 2007, sale proceeds from donated heifers, memorial gifts and other
contributions from Angus breeders and friends in Kansas helped the Kansas Angus
Association establish the Kansas Angus Association Scholarship Endowment Fund at
$10,000. Subsequent gifts to the Fund continue to be made by Angus breeders in
Kansas. The Fund provides scholarships to Angus youth from Kansas attending
college and/or supports sponsorships for Kansas youth to attend the national
Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD) Conference. The Angus Foundation
Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to select the Kansas
Angus Association Scholarship recipient. When awarded, the Kansas Angus
Association selects the LEAD scholarship recipient(s). Recipients may also
receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state, regional
and national Angus related entities.
NJAA Alumni and Friends Scholarship Endowment Fund
Developed by the 2009-2010 NJAA Board of Directors, the objective of the NJAA Alumni and Friends Scholarship Endowment Fund
is to create more scholarship opportunities for deserving Angus youth of the NJAA and to inspire other juniors and alumni to
“give back” to the NJAA. Bob and Margaret Duprey of Cherry Knoll Farm, West Grove, Pa., have pledged a total of $25,000 in
matching funds to support the NJAA Board Alumni and Friends Scholarship Endowment Fund. A different recipient will
receive the scholarship each year. The Angus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to
select the NJAA Alumni and Friends Scholarship recipient. Recipients may also receive other scholarships from the Angus
Foundation or local, state, regional and national Angus related entities.
Mack C. Olson Memorial Angus Scholarship Endowment Fund
Tragically killed in an automobile accident on December 10, 2007, Mack C.
Olson's legacy will be carried on in perpetuity in the Angus breed through the
Mack C. Olson Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund. Spearheaded by his numerous
friends and family members, a fund drive resulted in more than $17,000 being
raised from in-memory gifts and the proceeds from an embryo auction at the
National Western Stock Show in Denver, Co. Mack was a member of the
American Angus Association, Montana Angus Association, Western Montana Angus
Association and director for the Western Montana. Stockgrowers Association. The
Olson family raises Angus cattle in the beautiful Mission Valley at St.
Ignatius, Mt. The first scholarship was awarded at the 2008 National
Junior Angus Show. A different recipient will receive
the scholarship each year. The Angus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship
Program application will be used to select the Mack C. Olson Memorial Angus
Scholarship recipient. Recipients may also receive other scholarships from
the Angus Foundation or local, state, regional and national Angus related
entities.
Roscoe L. Richardson Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund
Roscoe L. Richardson of Dracut, Mass. was a long-time member and officer
of the New England Angus Association. Roscoe was a man who loved Angus cattle
and the associations he developed from being an active Angus breeder. He always
found time to support Angus activities in New England and help other breeders. A
strong supporter of higher education, this scholarship award was established to
continue his ideals of helping young people remain connected to agriculture.
Funded at his death in 1988 with in-memory contributions to the Berkshire
Taconic Community Foundation in Great Barrington, Mass., the Roscoe L.
Richardson Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund of $10,000 was recently donated
to the Angus Foundation. The primary selection criteria and focus for this
scholarship is to support Angus youth from New England states. The Angus
Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to select
the Roscoe L. Richardson Memorial Scholarship recipient. The first
scholarship was awarded at the 2007 National Junior Angus Show. Recipients may
also receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state,
regional, and national Angus related entities.
Rising Angus Star Youth Scholarship Fund
Established in 2008, the Rising Angus Star Youth Scholarship Fund was created to
provide
scholarship(s) to eligible applicants based on financial need, personal and/or
family hardship, physical handicap, medical disability, other extenuating
circumstances or combination thereof when determined such sufficiently exists to
warrant special consideration by the Angus Foundation Scholarship Selection
Committee. The first Rising Angus Star Youth Scholarship was awarded at
the 2009 National Junior Angus Show. Scholarship(s)
will be a four-year award(s). The scholarship award amount will be established
each semester by the Angus Foundation. In addition to the Angus Foundation
Undergraduate Scholarship Program application, a one-page Statement of Special
Needs MUST accompany the application and both documents will be used to select
the Rising Angus Star Youth Scholarship Fund recipient(s). Recipients may
also receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state,
regional and national Angus related entities.
John Rucker Family Angus Scholarship Endowment Fund
No one embodies the spirit of true Angus breeders, more than the John Rucker Family of Hill Crest Farm at Delaplane, Va.
Started in 1924 by John’s father, Bayard Ambrose Rucker, Hill Crest Farm has consistently produced quality Angus cattle
for more than 70 years. John and his wife Marjorie, and their three daughters Connie, Sue and Penny not only bred Angus
cattle, but also were involved in positions of leadership and service to the Angus breed. In honor of the Rucker family’s
stewardship and involvement, Dwight and Carolyn Houff of Holly Hill Farm, Mount Sidney, Va., created the John Rucker
Family Angus Scholarship Endowment Fund in 2009 with a $10,500 gift to the Angus Foundation.
Developed to provide educational scholarships to deserving youth of the Virginia Junior Angus Association,
this fund will pay tribute to the work that the late John and Marjorie Rucker and their daughter Susan Pritchard Rucker
did for Angus youth. A different recipient will receive the scholarship each year.
The Angus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to select the John Rucker
Family Angus Scholarship recipient. Recipients may also receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local,
state, regional and national Angus related entities.
Joseph and Ruby Schaff/Schaff Angus Ranch Scholarship Endowment Fund
Funded initially with a $10,000 gift in 2006 from Joseph and Ruby Schaff of
Schaff Angus Ranch of St. Anthony, N.D., the Joseph and Ruby
Schaff/Schaff Angus Ranch Scholarship will permanently carry the legacy of these
long-time Angus breeders. Angus youth from North Dakota who meet the
qualifications and requirements for the Angus Foundation Scholarship Program
will be eligible for consideration by the Angus Foundation Scholarship Committee
for this scholarship. The Joseph and Ruby Schaff/Schaff Angus Ranch Scholarship
will be awarded to a different recipient each year.The Angus Foundation
Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to select the Joseph
and Ruby Schaff/Schaff Angus Ranch Scholarship recipient . The first
scholarship was awarded at the 2006 National Junior Angus Show. Recipients may
also receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state,
regional, and national Angus related entities.
Ray Sims Angus Scholarship Endowment Fund
If you were among Angus breeders marketing cattle during the emerging auction methods of the 1950s and 1960s, Col. Ray Sims
was likely at the top of your auctioneer list. Sims, who now resides in Raymore, Mo., helped develop purebred auctions into
fast-paced and steady marketing venues and helped lay the foundation of many modern auction techniques. During his 46-year
career, Sims traveled throughout the United States, selling for both large and small scale livestock breeders, senators and
three U.S. Presidents — more than an estimated 7,000 auctions total. Sims was honored for his contributions to the industry
as he received the Saddle and Sirloin Portrait Award in 2010 during a special ceremony in conjunction with the North American
International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Ky. Donations exceeding the portrait presentation costs were pooled
to create the Ray Sims Angus Scholarship Endowment Fund in honor of Sims. A different recipient will receive the scholarship
each year. The Angus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to select the Ray Sims Angus
Scholarship recipient. Recipients may also receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state, regional
and national Angus related entities.
Texas Angus Association "Texas Challenge" Scholarship Endowment Fund
As one facet of the ambitious fundraising campaign The Texas Challenge by Angus
breeders in Texas raising $250,000 to match a generous $250,000 challenge gift
by Klaus and Bonnie Birkel of Camp Cooley Ranch, Franklin, Texas supporting
education, youth and research, the Texas Angus Association Scholarship Endowment
Fund was initiated in 2007. Contributions to the Angus Foundation designated for
this Fund will provide scholarships to Angus youth from Texas. Scholarship
recipients will be selected by the Angus Foundation Scholarship Selection
Committee. Gifts continue to be made to this Fund by Angus breeders, allied
industry interests and friends in Texas through The Texas Challenge II, an
exciting second phase with the Texas Angus Association and Angus Foundation now
aspiring to achieve a new fundraising goal of $1 million. The Angus
Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to select
the Texas Angus Association Scholarship recipient(s). Recipients may also
receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state, regional
and national Angus related entities.
Vance Uden Memorial Angus Scholarship Fund
Vance Uden (1940-2009) purchased his first Angus heifer at age twelve. From then on through
his teenage years he faithfully waited by the mailbox for his Angus Journal.
Vance graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.S. in Animal Science.
While in college, he was on the livestock judging team. Vance, his wife Connie,
and their two sons Ty and Dru, built the widely respected TC Ranch producing numerous
well-known Angus sires. For Vance, TC stood for Total Commitment. Vance was a respected
cattle judge for many breeds and had judged all the major shows. He was a strong supporter
of youth, and guided many to their start in the Angus business. He had a love of God, love of family,
love of country, and love of Angus. The first Vance Uden Memorial Angus Scholarship will be awarded
at the 2010 National Junior Angus Show. Angus youth across the United States meeting the qualifications
for the Angus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program will be eligible for consideration.
The Vance Uden Memorial Scholarship(s) will be awarded to a different recipient each year.
The Angus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to select the recipient(s).
Recipients may also receive other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state, regional, and
national Angus related entities. Continuing students majoring in animal science or agribusiness with plans
to return to production agriculture will be given first preference. Gifts in Vance’s memory can be made to this Fund.
Woodlawn Farms Angus Scholarship Endowment Fund
Established in 2005 with a $25,000 gift from Blanford and Joan Pierce of
Creston, Ill., the Woodlawn Farms Angus Scholarship Endowment Fund will
permanently carry the legacy of this historical Angus herd of 125 years. Angus
youth across the United States who meet the qualifications and requirements for
the Angus Foundation Scholarship Program will be eligible for consideration by
the Angus Foundation Scholarship Committee for this scholarship. The Woodlawn
Scholarship(s) will be awarded to a different recipient each year. The Angus
Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program application will be used to select
the Woodlawn Farms Angus Scholarship recipient(s). The first scholarship was
awarded at the 2006 National Junior Angus Show. Recipients may also receive
other scholarships from the Angus Foundation or local, state, regional, and
national Angus related entities.

The American Angus Auxiliary Scholarship Endowment Fund
The American Angus Auxiliary provides opportunities for people interested in the welfare
of the Angus breed to work together to provide educational,
promotional, social programs and activities that promote Angus cattle and Angus youth.
The Auxiliary’s three primary purposes are to recognize Angus
youth for their accomplishments, support the American Angus Association, and to promote Angus beef.
Beginning in the 1980’s, the Auxiliary’s scholarship program annually awards scholarships at the National
Junior Angus Show to five young men and five young women who will be graduating from high school and pursuing
a secondary education. NOTE: This scholarship requires a separate application.

Certified Angus Beef®/NJAA Scholarship
Certified Angus Beef (CAB) LLC and the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA),
are pleased to support education, youth and research in yet another way. A
$1,000 CAB/NJAA Scholarship is awarded to a qualified applicant annually. The
scholarship, first awarded in 1990, is a grant for which no equivalent work is
required. NOTE: A separate application (see below) is required for the CAB/NJAA
Scholarship.

Louis M. "Mick" Colvin Scholarship Endowment Fund
The Colvin Scholarship was established in 1999 in honor of Louis M. "Mick"
Colvin. Mick Colvin was the first executive director of the Certified Angus Beef
(CAB)® Program and was instrumental in the success of the program. A scholarship
will be awarded to the top applicant based on activities and scholastic
achievement, communication skills-essay and verbal, and reference letters. NOTE:
This scholarship requires a separate application.

Richard Dyar Scholarship Endowment Fund
Sale proceeds from a donated heifer and other individual contributions
established the Dyar Scholarship Endowment Fund in honor of American Angus
Association Regional Manager Richard Dyar. The Dyar Scholarship will be awarded
annually to Alabama youth who are high school seniors or college students who
have completed at least one semester of college and are active in the Angus

Missouri Junior Angus Association Scholarship Endowment Fund
The Missouri Junior Angus Association Scholarship is an endowed scholarship that
was established in 1996. The Missouri Junior Angus Association established the
scholarship with monies that were raised, but not used, when Missouri hosted the
1996 National Junior Angus Show. Individuals and the Missouri Angus
organizations continue to contribute to the scholarship fund to ensure its
future success. This scholarship is awarded each year to Missouri Junior Angus
Association members and varies in amount depending on annual investment revenue.

North Dakota Angus Association Award Endowment Fund
Sale proceeds from donated heifers and other contributions by generous Angus
breeders enabled the North Dakota Angus Association to establish the North
Dakota Angus Association Endowmnt Fund in June, 2004 with a gift of $23,500.
Subsequent gifts to the Fund have been made by North Dakota Angus Association
and individual Angus breeders. This Fund provides scholarships to Angus youth
from North Dakota attending college and/or supports sponsorships for North
Dakota youth to attend the national Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD)
Conference. Recipients are selected by the North Dakota Angus Association
Scholarship Selection Committee from the organization's scholarship application.

The Oklahoma Junior Angus Association Scholarship Endowment Fund
In 2007, the Oklahoma Junior Angus Association donated $45,000 to establish a permanent endowment fund
in the Angus Foundation. Left over proceeds from co-hosting the 2007 National Junior Angus Show in Tulsa, OK,
and other sources, the Oklahoma juniors designated the funds to be used for scholarships. Earnings from the funds support
scholarships to Oklahoma Junior Angus Association members in their quest for secondary education. Number of scholarships
