Hurlbuts Generously Donate Another Piece of Angus History
Loyal and devoted supporters of the Angus Foundation, Dean and Gloria Hurlbut of
St. Joseph, MO, by popular request of many Angus history “buffs” and collectors
of Angus memorabilia have once again donated a piece of the beautiful carpet (red
background with Angus bull heads) that was installed in the library of the American
Angus Association when it opened its offices at St. Joseph, MO in 1956. The carpet
was replaced in 1993.
No strangers to the Angus family, both Dean and Gloria were long-time employees
of the American Angus Association. Dean was Director of Activities and Gloria was
Supervisor in the Performance Programs Department. Their combined service totaled
70 years.
In 2005, the Hurlbuts donated a piece of carpet to the silent auction where it sold
for $2,500. No doubt the Hurlbut’s donation this year of carpet with dimensions
of 7’2” x 28” will again be a highly sought after heirloom of Angus history by silent
auction attendees at the upcoming 2006 NJAS.
